Poplar HARCA Residents' Day - Saturday October 17th 2009

Today Lansbury Gardeners took part in the Poplar HARCA Residents' Day at Langdon Park School

We gave out 50 free bags of daffodil bulbs ready for planting now, 33 people took part in the Name that Vegetable Quiz, and several people left their contact details with us so we will keep them informed of other gardening related activities when they are planned.

How to plant your Daffodil bulbs

  • Plant bulbs as soon as possible (not later than mid November)
  • Plant bulbs in the ground or in large pots in soil that is not too wet, with good drainage, and good moisture retention
  • Daffodil bulbs should be planted in the autumn as they need about 12 weeks of cold weather so they will flower
  • Plant each bulb at least two and a half times the height of the bulb and so they do not touch each other
  • Caution!: Daffodil bulbs and plants are poisonous and must not be eaten
  • More funding to support gardening in Poplar

Thanks to everyone who visited us at our stall and showed us how important gardening is to the people of Poplar. We were lucky enough to have been successful in our bid for funds to help people with their gardens across Poplar, and will let you know updates on our progress with this.

Prizes for the "grow your own" name that vegetable quiz
