On June 4th 2009 Lansbury Gardeners visited Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park, where we had a wonderful guided tour by Kenneth Greenway. Ken knows so much about so many plants and insects and soon had us tasting all sorts of plants, including stinging nettles!
Louise made a list of some of the plants we saw. These included: Fox and Cubs, Purple Toadflax, Yellow Toadflax, Perennial Sweetpeas, Snapdragons, Greater Knapweed, Black Knapweed, Vipers Bugloss, Rest Harrow, Star of Bethlehem, Wild Rocket, Teasles, Garlic Mustard, Elderflower and Burdock.
We had such a wonderful visit we definitely plan to go back again. Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park is only a 15 minute walk from our estate, it is free and is open every day. There are loads of events throughout the year, and we recommend it to everyone!
